Argan oil is extracted from the kernels of the argan tree (Argania spinosa), a species native to southwestern Morocco and protected as a UNESCO biosphere reserve.

Origin

Native to southwestern Morocco, the argan tree grows mainly in the Essaouira, Agadir and Souss regions. This endemic species, protected by UNESCO as a biosphere reserve since 1998, has thrived in arid soils for thousands of years.
